It's terribly difficult to get reliable statistics, as numbers tend to vary drastically depending upon whom you ask, but if you're inclined to believe that Android is mopping up Apple and RIM's declining mobile mindshare in the US, you'll find nothing but corroboration from Quantcast.

Palm Pre fake tires of waiting for webOS 2.0, takes up iOS and BlackBerry OS lookalikes instead

We feel your pain: you love your BlackBerry at work and your iPhone for personal use, but as hardware goes, nothing gets your motor running quite like the Pre's pebble-esque shell. Trust us, we've all been there! Well, a new clone out of China seeks solve all your technological woes by combining an iOS-inspired user interface and the Pre's body -- with an iPhone home button thrown in for good measure, of course -- and when the time comes to throw on the suit and tie and head to work, you can switch the UI over to BlackBerry mode. As far as we can tell, it still functions like an iOS clone here, but at least the skin will remind you of the good ol' Bold days.

BlackBerry Bold R020 internal overview, replaces BlackBerry Bold 9700

You’d think that RIM would be replacing highest-end product with a brand new device, right? Well, previous rumors suggested that the BlackBerry Bold 9700 would get nothing more than a simple refresh, and we’re able to confirm those rumors. We have a leaked internal document detailing all sorts of fun stuff. Market positioning, technical overviews, and a bunch more. The big picture view? The BlackBerry Bold R020 (9020? 9750? 9780? We’re just guessing) will be practically identical to the 9700 visually. Internal changes include a 5 megapixel camera sensor, and 512MB of RAM up from 256MB. It will also launch with BlackBerry 6 — obviously. We’d love to say there is more, but there isn’t, so check out the leaked document and let us know your thoughts, ok?

Rogers launches Motorola Flipout and BlackBerry Curve 9300

Here’s a little update for the folks north of the border. Rogers has added both the BlackBerry Curve 9300 and the Motorola Flipout to their handset lineup. The Curve 9300 will be available for $79.99 with a three-year contract or for $399.99 contract free. The Cliff’s Notes on the 9300 read like this: quad-band GSM, tri-band HSPA, Wi-Fi b/g/n, GPS, 2.4-inch screen (320 x 240), 256 MB RAM, 2 megapixel camera, and BlackBerry OS 5. The Motorola Flipout will be available for $29.99 with a three-year contract or for $374.99 contract free. The stat sheet on the Flipout is as follows: quad-band GSM, dual-band HSPA, 2.8-inch QVGA touch-screen display, QWERTY keyboard, Wi-Fi, GPS, Android 2.1, and MOTOBLUR. RIM launches BlackBerry 6 platform

It's been teased since WES back in April -- but with the launch of the Torch today, RIM had to come clean with all the details on its thoroughly refreshed BlackBerry 6 operating system, too. Besides the obvious name change from "BlackBerry OS" to simply "BlackBerry," the software features countless updates, most notably new universal search functionality, social network aggregation, WiFi-powered media sync with your desktop music collection, and an all-new (and desperately needed) WebKit-based browser with support for HTML5.
