In the middle of all the CES excitement, it's sometimes hard to forget about the regular Android world for a while. Fortunately the good folks over at XDA Developers never forget, and the latest goody bag to emerge from them is an Ice Cream Sandwich leaked ROM for the Xperia Play.
The tweaked 4.0.3 ROM has all the look and feel of stock ICS, and takes advantage of the Trebuchet launcher. As usual with such leaks there are things that don't work, one of which seems to be the camera. But if you can live without and fancy giving it a shot, hit the source link for the download links and instructions. A walkthrough video can be found after the break.
Sega's push into mobile gaming is set to continue, as they've just sent word that they're showing off their latest efforts, Virtua Tennis Challenge, next week at CES.
Other information is pretty scarce, but the first device to receive the game is apparently set to be the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play. Release schedule is "later this year," becoming available to other Android devices at a later date.
U.S. regional carrier C Spire (former Cellular South) announced today that it's carrying the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play for $49.99 on contract (and after $50 rebate). The so-called Playstation phone -- nicknamed for its Playstation-like slide-out controls -- is the same as we've crawled all over for the past year or so, with a 4-inch display, 1GHz Snapdragon II processor, 5MP rear camera and a slew of available games.
We're not yet seeing the Xperia Play on C Spire's website, but you can call telesales (855-277-4734) or get it in a C Spire store.
Zombies, guns, mayham and chaos -- what more could you want? Dead On Arrival is the latest game released for the Xperia Play as an exclusive for a limited time and it's pretty awesome. Featuring top down 3D gameplay, Dead On Arrival uses comic-style cut scenes tell the story of a endless horde of zombies after you but you get an a massive catalog of weapons to blast them to bits and have fun while doing so. Right now, Dead On Arrival is available for free in the Android Market for all Xperia Play owners, jump past the break for the trailer and full press release.
