Galaxy Tab with WiMAX coming to Sprint this November?

The CDMA-equipped Samsung Galaxy Tab has so far been nothing more than a sticker in a random snapshot and some whispers about Verizon, but Boy Genius Report is saying that the Tab's also bound for Sprint's network this November, on both its 3G and 4G (i.e. WiMAX) network -- à la the Galaxy S / Epic 4G. No word from Sammy HQ on this one, but it's worth noting that in our briefing, a Samsung rep mentioned that an American carrier could put Qik on it and, well, that's kind of Sprint's thing.

Verizon offering new prepaid data package for 3G smartphones

Now there is truly no reason as to why anyone can't enjoy a shiny new Android phone from Verizon. Big Red announced for the first time, consumers can subscribe to a prepaid monthly data plan for their smartphone devices and not have to worry about a contract. This includes a $30 prepaid unlimited data plan -- which is a very familiar $30 we've seen on a contract plans for some time now. Additionally, Verizon customers will also have the option of opting into a cheaper $10 monthly data package which will allow up to 25 MB per month; if you go over that 25 MB, you'll be looking at a $.20/MB overage fees. We're wondering if this has any relation to that rumor that was floating around back in July, stating that Verizon may have been planning to switch to a more AT&T styled data plans. Make the jump to see all the phones that are eligible for the new data packages. [Verizon]

Wind Mobile launching BlackBerry Pearl 3G today?

We’ve just been sent in some visual confirmation of what we already knew: Wind Mobile will be adding the BlackBerry Pearl 3G to its pre-paid handset lineup. What we didn’t know, and our source was kind enough to tip us off on, is that the handset will be officially announced today. No details on price were provided, but we’re confident the handset will retail for right around $300. There you have it.
UPDATE: The device is now up on Wind Mobile’s website for $300.

Great news for those of you rocking Skype Mobile on Android -- the app has been updated, and you can now make calls over Wifi, in addition to 3G. That means faster speeds, of course, and no more being forced to use Verizon's data, which is slower, costs you money, and was a pretty specious move to begin with. The bad news is that the Skype app is still exclusive to Verizon (wasn't that supposed to change at some point?). But as long as we're ending the night on a positive note, let's hope that soon changes, too. Thanks, @JasonAGrier continue reading »»»
