Looking to switch carriers? Amazon has insane deals for you

Remember when we reported Amazon was selling the Captivate and Vibrant for insane discounts? Well, Amazon has many other Android phones available for purchase now at far below what you will find in any carrier store or website. You do have to be a new customer to the carrier to get the price, but this should make it easier than ever to jump your current carrier's ship for that new Android phone you have been craving. We've rounded 'em all up for you after the break. [Amazon]

From the forums: Custom boot animation

Fresh from our Droid X forums, Natemz brings us a couple of cool custom boot animations. On the left, a spinning Android logo. On the right another for some little Android site we've heard a little bit about. You're going to need to be rooted, and there are a couple steps involved. But that's a small price to pay for looking good. Video of the Android logo animation is after the break, and check out the forums link for the whole shebang. [Android Central Forums]

How would you change Motorola's Droid X?

Last week we gave the Apple loyalists in attendance a chance to rip and rag the iPhone 4, and this time around we're doing the same for Motorola's best frienemies. The Droid X is without question the largest Droid in the family today, and calling it a showstopper on Verizon would probably be understating things. Now that it's been on the market a few months, we're curious to know how you early adopters like (or dislike) it. Did the massive screen end up being too large for comfort? Anything you'd tweak software-wise? How's the VZW service been? Might your world change if Android 2.2 ever hits in official fashion? Go on and let us know how you'd alter this behemoth down in comments below -- but give it some real thought first, cool?

Remember this one? When the Motorola Droid X launched in July, it did so with a little confusion surrounding how to remove the battery. We had report after report of people ripping off the tab -- which was light brown and mere said "pull" -- without knowing what it was for, which is to remove the battery.

But there's been a modification, and the tab is now red and says "Battery Release," with a little "do not cut" logo. Hopefully that will clear things up. For everybody else, we've got our instructional video after the break. Thanks, G!
